Syrians living as refugees are traumatized and have lost their homes, their livelihoods and many have lost friends and family. Art and creative craft opportunities can provide much needed emotional therapy as well as the reminder that life contains moments of joy and creativity.
Many of the Syrian refugee children in Jordan do not attend school regularly. Studio Syria brings chidren’s books and educational supplies to families who need this support.
By teaching creative thinking Studio Syria helps refugees to imagine a better future and provides a reason to smile once again.
Occasionally Studio Syria receives inquiries from wonderful people offering to teach art in Zaatari Camp. While our hearts are warmed by the spirit of these offers we cannot, at the moment, bring volunteers to the camp due to the high security situation and other logistics. In the future we may be able to organize volunteers but a basic knowledge of the Arabic language is useful.
In the meantime we are looking for funding to buy supplies in Jordan.
